Bawer grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He began his legal career right out of law school. He went into private practice and represented hundreds of clients in different counties all across Tennessee.

Bawer is a graduate of the Nashville School of Law. While in law school, Bawer earned his Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Middle Tennessee State University. He also attended Middle Tennessee State University for his undergraduate studies.
